Lux Ceylon is a private travel concierge for the curious. The difference between visiting a country and being introduced to one is a person: someone who knows the island deeply, plans like a designer, and picks up when you call. That is us.
Our Story
The island deserved better than a checklist.
For years, Sri Lanka has been sold the same way. The same eight stops, the same convoy of vans, the same itinerary photocopied for everyone from honeymooners to grandparents. The island we know, the one of quiet villas, dawn coast roads, and tables you would never find without a local name to drop, barely appears in any brochure.
So we built the company we always wished existed: one that plans your journey the way we would plan it for people staying in our own homes. At the heart of it is our founding advisor, Tilak Tilakaratne, who has spent more than four decades designing private journeys across this island for guests from every continent. His roads, his relationships, and his judgement stand behind every itinerary we draw. Around him, a new generation has built the rest: the design thinking, the technology, and the standard of care that a journey deserves.
We do not show you the Sri Lanka in the brochures. We introduce you to the one we know.
How we work
Journeys, designed, not assembled.
Most itineraries are assembled from stock parts. Ours are designed, the way anything worth keeping is designed. It is a discipline, and it has steps.

We sketch.
Within a day or two, you will see a first sketch of your journey, honest about distances, seasons, and trade-offs. It is a draft, and drafts are meant to be argued with.

We refine, together.
We move days, swap lodges, add nights, and cut what does not earn its place. The journey is not finished when we like it. It is finished when it is unmistakably yours.

Then we disappear into the details.
The right villa held for the right week. The table arranged before you thought to ask. A named specialist on WhatsApp for the length of your trip, close, but out of the way.
Our Standards

Personal.
One specialist owns your journey from first message to final transfer. You will never be passed between departments, because we did not build any.

Honest.
If a property has slipped, a season is wrong, or a famous stop is not worth your afternoon, we will say so before you book, not after you arrive. We would rather lose a night's commission than your trust.

Present.
Plans meet weather, and weather wins. When something bends mid-journey, you will usually hear about the problem and its solution in the same message. You will never be left holding the logistics.
