Tucked into Kandy's rolling hills, Santani is Sri Lanka's first purpose-built wellness resort — and, since 2025, the only wellness resort in the country to hold a MICHELIN Key. Minimalist chalets orient to a single immense view of the Dumbara valley; the whole 48-acre estate is designed, in Michelin's words, "from top to bottom to promote relaxation and contemplation."
Every stay begins with a consultation with Santani's Ayurvedic doctor, who shapes one of 15 personalised programmes around you — Detox, Sleep, Stress Management, Personal Dosha Ayurveda, No Pause (menopause), De-addiction, Anti-ageing, Recovery, weight loss and more. From there the day has a rhythm: twice-daily Hatha yoga, a daily 90-minute spa treatment, a guided nature walk, and unlimited fresh juices and herbal teas. A visiting Masters in Residence programme brings global wellness teachers in season.
There is no menu. Santani's dining philosophy, Rasa Haya (Sanskrit for the six tastes), asks the executive chef to meet every guest personally and design each day's meals around your constitution, your programme, and what the garden gave that morning — detox, ketogenic, Ayurvedic vegetarian, or weight-loss. The glass-fronted restaurant seats just 40 above the Dumbara valley. Michelin credits this dining ritual as central to the Key.
Sri Lanka's largest spa spans three hillside levels and holds the island's first complete hydrotherapy suite: thermal saltwater bath, steam room, sauna, and open-air treatment rooms suspended over the valley. Every wellness-programme guest receives a 90-minute signature therapy each day, sequenced by the doctor to match your protocol.
